    Duration of ownership: 13 Months

Strengths: Price (OEM), stability, ease of use/install/recovery

Weaknesses:OEM License limited to the first installed PC

Overall Evaluation: Like many others, I needed to upgrade an old Win98 machine, but XP Home just doesn't meet my needs for home office networking. When faced with paying for between $200-400 for XP Pro on each of my 4 machines, this is OEM license is a great alternative. The main disadvantage to the OEM license compared with the full retail are that it can't be used to upgrade to the next version of Windows, and it can't be moved to another PC. You will receive a valid, original COA certificate, but no software media. Use an OEM XP Pro disk (gateway, dell, etc), but not a retail, or corporate disk.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Years

Strengths: Stable (it's not Linux, but the Best Windows OS so far for consumers).

Weaknesses:Microsoft is THE ultimate hacker / Virus writer Target.

Overall Evaluation: Windows Movie Maker is actually a decent add-in product. CD Burning built in *until u uninstal Roxio EZ Cd Creator!*Security updates are a must to maintain. Many default settings eat resources and are not necessary for the generic consumer. Everything is customizeable. One can spend countless time setting up their system so to keep it be sure to use the availability of multiple users- Always use at least a second in case of a virus or software install caused crash. Retain the Administrator account for easy recover/clean up. XP Pro may not be best (especially price wise) for all users, but Networking and Security wise folks will prefer it.

Strengths: The CoA license (Certificate of Authenticity) is as easy to use as the one that came with the CD.

    Weaknesses:None

Overall Evaluation: I bought a "Brand X" PC and "Windows XP Professional OEM Version" at the same time. I now purchased a second "Brand X" PC, without an OS. All I had to do was buy a "license only OEM version" of Windows XP through a PriceGrabber Storefront. I used the CD I received with the first license to load the OS onto the second PC. When I was asked for my CoA code, I entered the one I just purchased. Everything has functioned just like with the original CoA code.

    Strengths:

Weaknesses:Unable to use. Microsoft indicates Product Key already used.

Overall Evaluation: Unable to activate program. Microsoft indicates the Product Key provided has already been used to activate the software on another computer. I had to purchase another COA license on-line from Microsoft in order to activate my software.

    Strengths: good

    Weaknesses:none

Overall Evaluation: Excellent service, extremely helpful. They remembered my initial query and called me back after I'd placed my order, to ensure that the delivery terms were correct. I will be using them a lot more in future.
