Strengths: Easy to use,Fast monochrome text speed,network-ready, large-capacity cartridge.
Weaknesses: Limited paper storage,a little bit noisy.
Overall Evaluation: I bought this machine for $500 with $50 rebate. The installation is easy and is the fastest color laser printer so far. It offers impressive print quality with crispy and great details. I bought this printer because it has large-capacity cartridge (Yields up to 6,600 pages with $150 for each cartridge). The HL-2700CN includes a CompactFlash card slot, which, with the addition of a CompactFlash card, you can use to store and reprint large documents, as well as for storing special font and frequently used forms and templates. The LCD screen can shows the status of the printing. Although it's a little bit noisy during printing, I recommend this printer for small business.

Strengths: Good text printing and fast,if toner is full then page costs are very good
Weaknesses: very noisy when the printing starts, waiting time for the first colour print toooo long
Overall Evaluation: Fill up the toner cartridges up to the top and you get a very good price per printed page (between 2p and 4.5p) but if you like it nice and quiet and your colour prints printed out today and not next year then look somewhere else

Strengths: looks good, small footprint, color is better then average, a lot of bang for the buck.features sound to good to be true
Weaknesses: cost to run.the warning light came on at 10k.opc belt op4cl cost over $400 to replace.fuser fp4cl cost $450 and toner $145 runs out sooner then claimed
Overall Evaluation: Brother claims were to good to be true. I have bought several brother units and have had trouble with half. they all seem to claim moreprints then to units will do. We are accountants as such we keep records. We will not be able to recommend them or continue to use them as we grow in the future.

Strengths: Works with linux.Emulates several other printers.EASY cartridge replacement.
Weaknesses: Images are not "photo" quality,as in a photoprinter with photo paper, but they are pretty good for just plain paper.
Overall Evaluation: This is a great business printer. It emulates several other different printers. I was able to use it with some very old software and replaced an old dot matrix printer. Does postscript printing. Prints on thick paper and card stock. Can be configured with a browser. With Linux I used the brother 2600 driver and it works fine even with network printing. The toner cartridges and transfer belt are the easiest that I have seen to get to. The toner cartridges are super big capacity.

Strengths: None that I can think of.
Weaknesses: Poor black and white printing. Bad match up of color printing. Extremely slow printing color jobs. The user manual is not complete, and the tech support individual was rude and unhelpful.
Overall Evaluation: In trying to print a color page from Photoshop, the printer was not able to print some of the black and white text. In addition, the color did not match the colors shown on my monitor. When trying to print the color page, it took over 10 minutes to get the printer to finally start to print the first page. The User Manual seems to be incomplete. When calling Brother's tech support department, even Brother advertises 1 Year Free On-Site Service, the tech support person spent more time trying to prove me wrong vs. tring to fix the problem. He never once suggested sending out a rep for the on-site service program. He took that attitude of "let's talk over techie so that the customer gets further confused vs. trying to be helpful. End Result: Returned the printer.
