Canon Pixma MP780 Review

- Any small office working with both documents and pictures will value the Canon Pixma MP780. For $300, it's a good multifunction device for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: all outputs, very easy to use

Weaknesses: none after following directions. Except the ink doesn't last too long, esp. the black.

Overall Evaluation: My only problem was putting in the cartridges, I tried to put them upside down, but finally relized the error of my ways. wish the ink cart. where a bit bigger. Printing very good Quality very good. Best maching I ever had, I've had several hp printers and have had trouble with everyone. My Epson was good but only printed.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Specifications outshine reality

Weaknesses: Will not work with all of my new computers, and paper does not feed straight

Overall Evaluation: I had high expectations of what htis new printer was going to do for me in my home office environment. But it seems to be the first time I've been dissatisfied with a Canon product. While it can receive and send faxes and copy fine, it rarley feeds the paper through straight. So there is always a noticeable angel to the text on the page. However, the main problem is that it does not want to work with my year old ASUS laptop running Windows XP Pro. I've tried installing it many times, with always the same error: "specified port is unknown". No matter which USB port I use, the same error occurs. I've spent hours with both ASUS and Canon support, and neither one can help. I've connected the printer to a new P4 desktop - no problem. I've connected it to a 5 year old refurb Compaq laptop that my youngest child now has, also no problem. I realzie it seems to point to something on the ASUS laptop, but what it is seems to be beyond any resources I can find.
