U.S. broadcaster NBC has made selected television shows available for streaming to iPhone and iPod touch users, side-stepping iTunes.

NBC removed its content from iTunes last year because it was unable to convince Apple to allow it price flexibility. Now, the company has moved to side-step iTunes altogether, making selected TV shows available as media streams over the internet.

While these shows are only available to users in the U.S., they are ad free and streamed in QuickTime format, a report explains.
